Big Spaceship Launches Field Notes

Today, Big Spaceship announces the launch of Field Notes from Big Spaceship, a new short-form audio series designed to share what the agency is learning about AI and its impact on advertising in a real-time format built for busy teams. Intentionally short, episodes run between five and fifteen minutes and get released only when something worth sharing arises. Built for flexibility, marketers can consume the series on a commute or over coffee, then share it directly with teams, no scheduling required.

"Content like Field Notes is valuable because it distills complex AI trends and frameworks into clear, practical takeaways that are easy to consume and even easier to share with teams,” said Caroline Giegerich, VP, AI at IAB. “In a landscape of increasingly shortened attention spans, this kind of digestible, accessible knowledge-sharing reflects where the industry needs to go. It's encouraging to see IAB's AI Transparency work informing the first episode."

Big Spaceship’s leadership team develops and edits each episode, ensuring strong points-of-view grounded in real CMO challenges. Topics covered in early episodes include the evolving role of platforms like Claude in advertising, the emergence of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), new industry frameworks around AI transparency, and the growing importance of maintaining human authorship in agent-assisted work.

“As everyone sits through more and more meetings about AI, we wanted to create something that enables learning without the time suck,” said Taryn Crouthers, CEO of Big Spaceship. “This fits into our recent rebrand and positioning as “Explorers, not settlers”.  Field Notes exemplifies how we’re not only exploring creatively, but also new ways of working and supporting our partners. We designed the series to deliver clear, tactical perspectives on emerging AI developments in a format that fits into your day.”

Christa, an AI-powered persona developed using ElevenLabs, narrates Field Notes. Big Spaceship opted for an AI voice on purpose to show an example of thoughtful technological use in practice. A nod to educator and astronaut Christa McAuliffe, the name itself underscores our focus on exploring new frontiers through the series and in perpetuity.

"AI isn't something you learn once and walk away from. It's changing every day, and most leaders don't have the time to keep up with that pace,” said Talia Bender Small, President of The Female Quotient. "Taryn and I built the AI Summit in 2024 in response to that exact need, and on November 10 The FQ will host it for the third year. Field Notes is the regular touchpoint leaders need in between, in a format that fits how people actually work. It's short, useful, and easy to send to your team. That's how AI education reaches people at every level.”

With Field Notes, Big Spaceship continues to expand how it partners with clients, moving beyond traditional deliverables to create ongoing, lightweight ways of sharing perspective, building alignment, and helping teams stay ahead of rapid change.
