BURN Studio has signed directing duo Giraffe Sisters for US commercial representation. Sisters Juliana and Nicola Giraffe are multidisciplinary artists known for creating handcrafted, surreal worlds where expressive physical performance and character-driven storytelling come together in ways that feel both imaginative and deeply human. The signing follows BURN’s recent collaboration with the duo on Circle’s ambitious and highly successful livestream experience “The Bored Room,” an eight-hour fictional workplace that blurred the lines between advertising, entertainment and absurdist comedy.
Over the past decade, Juliana and Nicola have built a distinctive body of work across music videos, commercials and narrative filmmaking, often serving as both directors and production designers. Their music video credits include collaborations with Columbia Records, Capitol Records and Warner Music Group, directing music videos for artists including Courtney Barnett and Chicano Batman, while commercial clients include Ragu, Simon Miller, Capri Sun and Lewis Bake Shop. Their narrative work includes the short films “We Saw Ourselves Dreaming” and “Summer of Fellini.”
Creating together since childhood, the sisters developed their unique visual language through filmmaking, fine art, ballet, theatre and music before eventually bringing those disciplines together behind the camera. Nicola studied fine art at Central Saint Martins in London, while Juliana pursued cinematography at ArtCenter College of Design before gaining experience at Roman Coppola's Director's Bureau.
A defining influence on their filmmaking came from their study of mime, training under teachers connected to Marcel Marceau before continuing their studies in Paris. The discipline has since become a creative foundation that informs everything from actor direction and choreography to visual rhythm and storytelling without dialogue. Rather than treating movement as performance alone, the sisters use it as a cinematic language that shapes every aspect of their filmmaking.
“Working on ‘The Bored Room' together made us realize we had found people who genuinely understood how we like to make work,” shares Juliana and Nicola. “Creating a world where scripted storytelling, improvisation and live performance could all exist together was an exciting challenge, and BURN embraced that vision from the very beginning. They felt like the perfect bridge between our creative world and theirs. They championed our ideas, encouraged us to take risks and made us feel supported every step of the way. By the end of the project, joining the roster felt like a natural next chapter.”
