Editors Hanna Sturwold & James K. Crouch join forces as Co-Founders to formally unveil Parallel Post, a full-service post production studio bringing together editorial, color, sound, VFX and finishing across teams in Los Angeles and Austin. Built from Hanna’s and James’ backgrounds across narrative filmmaking and advertising, Parallel was created to give artists more freedom to work across both worlds while keeping editorial, color, sound, VFX and finishing connected throughout the post process.

James and Hanna first connected at a time when their careers were moving in opposite but complementary directions. James had spent more than a decade building his career in features, while Hanna’s work had increasingly moved between commercial, film and television projects. As James looked to expand further into advertising and Hanna continued pursuing narrative work, the two found themselves confronting the same divide from opposite sides: talented artists were often expected to remain within one corner of the industry, despite the creative overlap between them.

Their shared perspective quickly evolved into something bigger. Shortly after connecting, James invited Hanna to a private screening hosted by longtime Terrence Malick editor Billy Weber, surrounded by editors whose work they both admired. A few days later, over lunch in Culver City, Hanna proposed they start a post company together. James immediately said yes.

That idea became Parallel Post, a name reflecting both their individual paths and their belief that advertising, film and television don’t need to exist in separate creative boxes. With James based in Austin and Hanna in Los Angeles, Parallel operates across both markets, maintaining roots in the West Coast advertising community while building its presence within Texas’ growing production landscape.

“I moved to L.A. completely focused on film, but I arrived at a really challenging time for the industry,” shares James. “When Hanna suggested starting a company together, I didn’t hesitate. It was honestly a gut feeling. I knew she was talented, smart and she had a real business acumen and a way of working with clients that really complemented me. We had a really natural balance from the beginning and starting Parallel just made sense.”

That balance became foundational to Parallel, shaping both the opportunities they wanted to create for artists and the way they approached the post process itself.

“My career has always crossed advertising and narrative, and one thing I kept noticing was how divided those worlds could feel even though so much of the craft is the same,” says Hanna. “James and I were experiencing that divide from different perspectives, and that became a big part of the idea behind Parallel. We wanted to build a company where great storytellers aren’t put into one box, where artists can move between advertising, film and television, bring those disciplines into conversation with one another and continue growing creatively.”

“What I wanted was a place where the creative conversation didn’t stop when the edit was locked,” adds Hanna. “Every stage of post has the ability to fundamentally change how something feels, so we wanted the editor, colorist, mixer, VFX artists and finishing team to feel like part of the same creative conversation. It gives us the capabilities and efficiency of a full-service post house without losing the intimacy and creative attention of a boutique editorial company.”

Their respective careers continue to shape the company’s approach. Hanna brings a multidisciplinary editorial background spanning advertising, film and television, with editorial work on campaigns for brands including Nike, Infiniti, Snickers, Adidas, Google, Disney, Intel, and Bottega Veneta, alongside narrative film and television work for Apple TV+, NBC, and Amazon Studios. James brings more than a decade of narrative experience, with lead editor credits on more than 12 feature films. His work includes Sony Pictures' “12 Mighty Orphans” and “The Long Game.” Crouch also worked alongside Terrence Malick’s editorial team on the director’s upcoming feature, "The Way of the Wind."

Recent work from Parallel spans film and commercial projects, including campaigns for Malibu Sandals, Siete, The New York Times, AG1 featuring Hugh Jackman, and Marmot, as well as the feature film "Rooster." The Malibu Sandals campaign was recognized across multiple categories at Berlin Commercial 2026, earning a Directing shortlist and Official Selections for Editing, with Hanna Sturwold as editor, and Commercial + Branded Content Short.

Parallel recently brought on Rogue Rep, the boutique West Coast creative management and talent company helmed by Dave Campbell, for representation. The partnership marks a key milestone for Parallel and signals a new chapter for the company as it formally introduces itself to the industry and continues expanding its presence across advertising and film.

“What excited us about Parallel was the chemistry between James and Hanna and the genuine enthusiasm they bring to the post production side of the business,” says Dave Campbell of Rogue Rep. “There’s a clear sense of alignment across the company, from the way they’ve built the team to the kind of work they want to pursue. They have a strong vision for what Parallel can become, and we’re excited to represent them as they continue building on that.”

For Client Max Schirlo of AG1, the Parallel Post team have been ideal collaborators. “Parallel has been a great fit for AG1's external post production services mainly because of their willingness to work with us when projects and deliverables can be nebulous at times,” he concludes. “Parallel is talented and knowledgeable in all matters regarding post production. They are flexible and willing to work with you. Regardless of the deliverable, their team can get it done!”
