Hornet Expands with Christopher Rutledge & Amalgamtion
Hornet has announced the addition of creative leader Christopher Rutledge and Amalgamation, his evolving creative collective, to the studio’s roster. The partnership expands Hornet’s multidisciplinary offering across animation, design, live action, emerging technologies and beyond.

For more than twenty-five years, Hornet has championed artists with singular voices, rooted in a simple idea: the most memorable creative work doesn’t begin with a trend, technique or technology, it begins with people. As technology reshapes the industry, that means discovering exceptional talent, fostering diverse creative perspectives and creating the conditions for original ideas to emerge.
As a director and creative leader, Christopher Rutledge is known for building visually striking, culture-shifting work. His short film “Street Race” surpassed 30 million views across social platforms, and his collaboration on A$AP Rocky's “Helicopter” made waves in the animation and VFX world, winning a Gold at Cannes Lions.

Drawing on Rutledge’s career discovering singular creative talent, Amalgamation brings together artists, designers, technologists and makers united by curiosity, experimentation and discovery. The collective forms fluid teams tailored to each project’s ambitions, building unexpected intersections that push ideas and disciplines into new territory. The artists of Amalgamation have collectively earned 5.4M+ subscribers and actively create work that garners attention and shapes culture.

"For twenty-five years, Hornet has believed that great work begins with people," said Hana Shimizu, Managing Partner at Hornet. "Technology will continue to transform how creative work gets made, and we're excited by everything that's becoming possible. But what has always made creative work memorable isn't the tools, it's the curiosity, imagination and humanity of the people behind them. Christopher has an extraordinary ability to discover remarkable talent and create the conditions where new ideas emerge. That's what makes Amalgamation such a natural fit for Hornet, and we're incredibly excited to welcome Chris and this collective into our creative community."

"Amalgamation isn't about defining one vision or one style," said Chris Rutledge. "I'm drawn to artists who use familiar tools in unexpected ways and whose work has a real human touch. When we choose artists to collaborate with, we're choosing their unique voice and expertise as the paintbrush for the project. Every collaboration is an opportunity to discover something unexpected."

Together, Hornet and Amalgamation will collaborate across advertising, entertainment, design, editorial and emerging creative formats, bringing multidisciplinary talent and perspectives to new kinds of creative challenges. The partnership extends Hornet’s long-standing commitment to exceptional creative talent while opening new possibilities for collaboration, experimentation and unexpected work.
