Invisible Collective’s The Turner Brothers Bring Game Day Energy to New DoorDash Spot

Invisible Collective’s The Turner Brothers Bring Game Day Energy to New DoorDash Spot

Invisible Collective directors The Turner Brothers bring college football fandom, humor and a deep knowledge of the game to DoorDash’s latest campaign, “Don’t Fan For Free,” a new platform celebrating the fans who put in just as much work on game day as the players on the field.

Featuring Reggie Bush, Lane Kiffin and Jameis Winston, the campaign taps into the rituals, rivalries and deep cut references that define college football fandom, while introducing DoorDash’s new “Don’t Fan For Free” giveaways. Playing off a world where players, coaches and even mascots get their share of perks, the campaign turns its attention to the fans who bring the energy every game day, giving them the chance to score rewards ranging from free groceries for a year and cash to a car or even a house.

“College football has always been a part of our world, from playing the game to filming it, so we came into this with a lot of ideas,” shares Justen Turner. “We wanted to embrace who each person already is and use humor to let their real personalities come through. With Reggie, Jameis and Lane, there’s so much history and lore to play with, so it was about finding those little references that longtime fans would catch while still making the work fun for everyone.”

“DoorDash really trusted us to run with the idea and gave us the freedom to make decisions on the fly, which was huge for a project with this many moving pieces,” adds Julien Turner. “It was also incredibly collaborative. We were constantly working through creative solutions in the moment, sometimes pulling the talent into these quick huddles to figure things out together. That same energy carried over to the set. We were hyping up the crowd between takes, giving high fives and treating it like game day.”

Across a :45 hero film, :30 and :15 cutdowns, and three original :15 social films, The Turner Brothers built an interconnected world with individual jokes, references and Easter eggs branching out across platforms. Rather than cutdowns of the hero film, the social spots were conceived as their own pieces, taking on an elevated, mockumentary-style approach that gives each film its own distinct perspective within the larger campaign.

On set, the scale of the campaign called for a fast-moving, highly practical approach. Working with two roaming cameras, split units and an active cast of extras, The Turner Brothers captured multiple scenes simultaneously, at times calling cues between two setups operating within the same space.

The production also relied heavily on practical builds and in-camera problem solving. Production designer Jace Ford helped transform individual locations into multiple environments, including building a bedroom inside a bar. For the Reggie Bush spot “Bush Push,” the team created a pulley system using a golf cart to send a cooler airborne, coordinating the effect live with the talent and cameras.
