Working Stiff's Matt Pittroff in “Peak Form” with Return of Greenball for New Jersey Lottery

Comedy director Matt Pittroff, founder of Working Stiff Films, celebrates 25 years behind the camera with a knockout campaign for the New Jersey Lottery, developed by agency of record Inspired Think Group (ITG). The hero spot, “Peak Form,” marks the return of Greenball—an anthropomorphic lottery ball and instant NJ cult classic—just in time for a second-chance-to-win promotion.
Set to a retro-style training montage, the film follows Greenball as he prepares for a long-awaited reentry into the game. Clad in a green singlet, and determined to defy odds, he sprints, sweats, and battles his white-ball rivals in a dramatic (and ridiculous) race to the literal top. The tone is absurd, yet sincere—pure Pittroff, blending visual comedy with character-driven storytelling.

“Longevity in this business is hard-won,” Pittroff says. “You need talent, grit, timing…and an intact sense of humor…to have a fighting chance. Greenball and I have more in common than I’d like to admit.”
Stiff’s Executive Producer Steve Blair adds: “Matt’s a force. He can turn a 15-second script into a mini-series and somehow craft TikToks along the way. He’s relentless—and, frankly, not good for my blood pressure—but excellent for the sandbox we play in.”

The collaboration between the New Jersey Lottery, ITG, and Working Stiff Films has evolved throughout the 2020s. First introducing Greenball over two years ago, this team blends veteran experience with a fresh perspective, consistently elevating simple scripts into layered, cinematic comedy delivered in a distinctive style.
With bold visuals, sharp timing, and a sly wink to sports clichés, “Peak Form” proves that Pittroff isn’t just determined to mark milestones, he’s delivering work that punches above its weight class.
