BUTTER Music and Sound Wins Two Clio Sports Awards in Music
International music company BUTTER Music and Sound won 2 Clio Sports Awards in Music categories for buzzy projects “One Of A'Kind | A'ja Wilson” for Nike and “TOO EASY” for Jordan Brand. The campaigns additionally brought home two more Clio Sports Awards and one Shortlist in Branded Entertainment/Content and Film

Nike “One Of A'Kind | A'ja Wilson” out of Wieden+Kennedy Portland, which celebrated the May collaboration drop of the Nike A’One, earned Gold in Branded Entertainment/Content, Athlete Storytelling, and Film, 31 Seconds to 60 Seconds, in addition to its music Silver. BUTTER knew the impact the project had for women in sports and brought the tunes to match A’ja’s own infectious rhythm in a callback to popular schoolyard rhyming games. As a result, the vignette showcases a young girl teaching Wilson how to jump rope to a remixed version of "Miss Mary Mack”, a pointed choice to celebrate cultural pride and the intergenerational transmission of strength and resilience. Tawn "PZY" Peron composed the new take on a classic track.
The Jordan Brand “TOO EASY” campaign snagged Bronze in Film Craft, Music, thanks to its role as a Broadway-style basketball musical spectacle developed by Wieden+Kennedy for the launch of the Air Jordan 40.
Featuring NBA and WNBA stars ‘singing’, playing basketball, and performing choreography across the court and in the Broadway Theater district, the 2:30-minute short shifts from black and white to color, all set to a reimagined version of “Hard Knock Life” from the musical Annie. BUTTER composer Nat Jenkins worked on the final score of this project with Executive Creative Director (NY), Tim Kvasnosky, and composer collaborator Jay Lifton to help the piece come together. Each contributed their own take on the score, ultimately fusing their creations into an overlaying masterpiece that became the final score.
