Open Swim’s Marc André Debryune Directs Toyota Campaign for Car Season

Open Swim’s Marc André Debruyne and Toyota teamed up to unveil “Olympic Drive.” As proud partners of the Olympics, the campaign features two spots showcasing Canadian Paralympic Sprinter Marissa Papaconstantinouand 2024 Summer Olympic Gold Medalist in Breaking, Phil Wizard.

“We’re heading into that time of year for a focus on new automotive creative in advance of Fall model launches, so we wanted to celebrate our favorite, recent auto brand work,” says Open Swim’s Executive Producer Amyliz Pera. “Our team has a genuine soft spot for this category since we often draw on Associate Producer Nate Bloom’s experience as a mechanic, and we have done some crazy things to cars with his guidance! We’re extremely grateful that Marc André was given an opportunity to create this work with Toyota in Canada, and we wanted to be sure to share it with the U.S. market.”

“I came in with a deep love for hip-hop and breaking, and I knew Phil would rise to the challenge,” shares Open Swim Director Marc André Debruyne. “Marissa is also an incredible athlete with a presence that made directing her a joy. They both had non-stop energy on set. I was hesitant to push too hard to avoid injury, but fast-tracking an Olympic sprinter with a camera is something I won’t second-guess again. As a director, I live and breathe my craft, so it’s amazing to be able to capture that same passion in others.”
