Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg Reunite with Courage Agency and Alter Ego for New Skip Campaign

Courage Agency has teamed up with comedy icons Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for a new campaign for Skip, blending sharp humor with cinematic flair. Fresh off the success of their Apple TV+ hit The Studio, the creative duo brings that same meta, film-within-a-film energy to this series of ads - each spoofing a different movie genre.
The premise? Seth and his co-writer riff on potential movie ideas, only to realize every plot falls apart because - well - you could just order Skip. Cue a cascade of clever genre transitions, from gritty gangster dramas to dreamy rom-coms, each with its own unique visual treatment.

Crafting Six Distinct Cinematic Worlds
Alter Ego joined the project early, helping ensure each “mini-movie” felt authentic to its genre.
“For the colour, we needed to come up with six unique film looks for each movie the characters imagine,” explains Eric Whipp, Supervising Colourist at Alter Ego.Cinematographer Adam Newport-Berra captured the foundation for these looks, using distinct lenses and lighting setups to evoke each style. We then dove into referencing films to fine-tune every detail - from halation and film grain to contrast curves and palette shifts.

For the restaurant scene, The Godfather and Goodfellas inspired a “pushed negative” process - milky blacks, warmer tones, and a subtle blue grain to evoke vintage film stock of the era. Meanwhile, the rom-com sequence took cues from La La Land, with Whipp replacing the sky in post to achieve that iconic dusk-pink glow.
Visual Effects: From Ugly Babies to De-Aging Magic
The Alter Ego VFX team faced their own set of comedic challenges. One sequence required digitally altering a baby’s face to make it, as the script demanded - “ugly.”“We tried several versions of ugly baby until we landed in the sweet spot,” jokes Joel Osis, Senior VFX Artist.
An even trickier moment arrives when Seth quips, “I’ll just get de-aged.” To pull it off, the team referenced 100s of photos from Rogen’s early filmography.
“De-aging his face was actually the easier part,” says Eric Perrella, VFX Artist. “The real fun was bringing back his classic curly hair - like in Knocked Up - using fully CG strands that we could animate just right.”

A Love Letter to Movie-Making - and Takeout
The finished spot is both a satire and a celebration of filmmaking itself - a tongue-in-cheek homage to the creative process, wrapped in the convenience of a Skip order.“In the end, we love this spot,” says Whipp. “It was such a pleasure collaborating with everyone involved.”
From Courage’s concept to Alter Ego’s finishing touches, the campaign proves that when it comes to great ideas - and great food - you don’t need to overcomplicate it. Just Skip it.
