Simian Tames Sales Chaos for Production & Post Companies in Reel.io Insights Webinar
Kellie Atton of Reel.io, B.B. Rivero of Cortez Bros. and Sara Iversen of Northern Lights led the educational webinar introducing Reel.io to the production and post production communities.

Simian, the showreel building, review and approval and reel analytics platform used globally by creative leaders in advertising (and our parent company at The Howler), closed last week with Reel.io Insights: Taming Sales Chaos in Production & Post, a free webinar focused on solving the many challenges production and post-production sales teams have been dealing with for decades.

Hosted by Kellie Atton, Simian’s Head of Sales, and featuring insights from B.B. Rivero, President & Executive Producer at Cortez Brothers as well as Sara Iversen, Director of Growth and Partnerships at Northern Lights Family, Reel.io Insights tackles the challenges for industry companies when utilizing spreadsheets and generic CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tools, positioning Reel.io as a smarter, simpler solution for managing sales and growth.

The key word here is organization.’”

Following a short introduction by Kellie, Sara kicked off the conversation by clearly explaining the problems with a decentralized sales workflow:

The key word here is “organization.” In order to be successful in sales, it’s key to be organized... Especially in our industry, with people moving from one company to another; you want to make sure that you’re maintaining those relationships – both new and existing.

The term “spreadsheet” feels very analog and archaic. If you have a great CRM... you can see client conversations in one centralized location; you don’t need to go to different documents, inboxes, outboxes, dates – the history is all right there. It keeps everything organized.

However, as B.B. addressed shortly after, the trouble with CRM software is their corporate focus and complexity; being loaded with excessive functionality that does more to overwhelm than assist a production or post production company.

Every CRM option out there was oriented towards the corporate world. Like many companies, we tried Salesforce. They wanted us to do a two day training session... I had a team member – an absolutely capable, incredibly smart person – come back sobbing after day one. I dont think a CRM program should take two days to learn.

Now a daily Reel.io user, B.B. explained how her sales process has evolved for the better:

I feel very comfortable saying I can train anyone on my team to use Reel.io in fifteen minutes or less – ten if it’s a good day. It’s very, very simple and unencumbered by a lot of the options that are out there.

It’s been a game changer for us. Because I now have a dashboard that can tell me down to the number exactly how many leads I’ve had this month, where I need to find a director with a particular specialty. So that tells me if I need to have more or fewer of those experts moving forward. I can see what quarters are surged compare to others, as well as certain weeks or months of the year. I don't know how we functioned up to this point.

Reel.io Insights concluded with a live demo of the product and a Q&A roundup with its speakers, as well as the Simian and Reel.io development team.
