Uppercut Promotes Tyler Horton to Partner
Uppercut today announced the promotion of editor Tyler Horton to Partner, marking a major milestone for the company and recognizing his impact on the studio’s creative evolution over the past nine years.
“I feel really honored to become a Partner at Uppercut,” said Horton. “When I moved to Brooklyn from Arizona, I had no idea how I was going to become an editor, and Micah was one of the first people to really believe in me. We spent years figuring it out together, and so much of who I am
creatively came out of those early days and the culture he built here. I’m very proud of that journey and I'm really looking forward to this next chapter.”

“Tyler started at Uppercut as my assistant and he watched Uppercut grow from a small shop into a multi-city, multi-company business,” said founder Micah Scarpelli. “He’s seen every phase: the uncertainty, the grind, the breakthroughs, the growth. Tyler didn’t just help build Uppercut, he grew up with it. Watching him become a Partner feels deeply personal and incredibly earned.”
That trajectory is reflected in a body of work that has helped define Uppercut’s creative voice across commercial, documentary, sports, automotive, and fashion storytelling. Since joining the studio in 2017, Horton has become a defining creative voice at Uppercut, known for emotionally driven storytelling, rhythmic precision, and a collaborative approach that spans genres and formats.
Recent work includes the viral Peloton campaign featuring Hudson Williams, the Emmy Award-winning Tennessee Titans film directed by Ritesh Gupta, and Volvo’s docuseries The Family Car, which was shortlisted for AICP honors and is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Horton also credits his growth to working closely with Executive Producer Lisa Sadek, who was also recently promoted to Partner. "Lisa was right there with me through every part of it," he said, "We came up through the company at the same time, leaning on each other often and growing into and beyond our roles. It's a cool full circle moment that we're now both Partners, and that really speaks to Micah’s commitment to building people from within."
Lisa Sadek echoes that sentiment saying “From day one, we’ve pushed each other to understand every aspect of the post process and the business so we could grow together and better support the vision Micah trusted us with. We care deeply about Uppercut and the people here, and that’s always been at the center of how we work together. We’ve been each other’s support system since the beginning, and I’m very excited for what’s ahead.”
That culture has become central to Uppercut’s identity: high-end craft grounded in a collaborative, unpretentious environment where people push each other, take risks, and raise the standard of the work.
As Partner, Horton will continue editing while expanding his leadership across development, mentorship, and Uppercut’s growing slate of creative output across formats, talent, and client partnerships.
“Tyler understands where this industry is headed, but more importantly, he understands what should never change about it: taste, collaboration, and human connection,” Scarpelli added. He’s helped shape Uppercut’s creative DNA, and as Partner, he will help lead its evolution.”
