Covert & Go RVing Unlock Mesmerizing Adventures in “Just Beyond Your Door"

Creative studio Covert joined forces with Go RVing’s new agency of record, BVK, to produce a mesmerizing spot for “Just Beyond Your Door,” a new campaign to encourage travelers to experience the beauty of RV travel, which combines all the freedom of the open road with the comforts of home. The campaign symbolizes the power of an open door, demonstrating how RV travel is transformative, appealing to our desires to foster true connections and explore without limitations.

Launched today, “Just Beyond Your Door” spans traditional print, digital placements, streaming networks, search and social media, event sponsorships, brand activations, public relations, and influencer marketing.

The 30-second spot, produced by Covert and directed by VFX-driven director Anthony Rubinstein, utilizes the visual device of an RV door as a portal to new possibilities, unexpected adventures, and the unknown. The action commences with the silhouette of an RV door, which opens to reveal a gorgeous lakeside sunset, alive with birdsong and a gentle breeze. What follows is a transformative journey, with each opening door revealing vignettes of family, loved ones, and friends sharing the joy of RV travel.

“Research, including our own studies, shows that Americans are seeking travel experiences that allow them to unwind and embrace spontaneity—and RVing delivers exactly that,” states Karen Redfern, Chief Marketing Officer for Go RVing. “Every time you open the door of an RV, you step into new adventures, from serene natural landscapes to vibrant towns off the beaten path. It’s not just travel; it’s a lifestyle that brings freedom and connection, and we hope our new campaign inspires travelers to discover the joy of experiencing the world on their own terms.”

“Just Beyond Your Door” marks Covert's first full end-to-end production, powered by an innovative virtual pipeline that seamlessly blends photoreal CG landscapes with live-action footage.

“Go RVing is the consumer-facing voice of the RV industry with a mission to inspire potential RVers, spark curiosity, and raise awareness about the benefits and accessibility of RVing through rich, authentic, and diverse storytelling,” says Nick Litwinko, Covert Executive Producer. “Their embrace of narrative, collaboration, and bleeding-edge virtual production techniques to elevate their brand mission was inspiring, and we were honored they brought us along for the journey.”

BVK’s concept called for myriad environments to express the wide range of experiences consumers can enjoy via RV travel. To fulfill this, Covert created dozens of CG landscapes using Unreal Engine, reflecting all four seasons and diverse regions of the country. The CG landscapes were loaded onto the volumetric stage, where the live-action production commenced.

“Each door transition was meticulously timed, ensuring viewers fully experienced the glory and brilliance of each scene, while spellbinding them with a sense of ‘what's next’ — much like the adventure awaiting those who travel via RV,” says Rubinstein. “The beauty of these transitions is evident in the smallest of moments, as elements such as sparks, dust motes, or snow subtly trail into the next, creating a bridge between each setting and sharp visual contrast.”

The project began with intensive pre-visualization, where Covert meticulously planned each environment, blocking, and transition, utilizing CAD files for precise RV and camera angles. On set, Covert focused on seamlessly integrating the exterior CG environments with live-action captures of the RV interiors and actors, dialing in lighting and grading adjustments in real-time. This ensured realistic reflections were captured on the RV surfaces, blending in-camera lighting with the CG in a way that a green screen simply could not.

“We were inspired by the symbolic nature of opening a door as a passage to new experiences and discovery. Incorporating it as a key visual device in the ‘Just Beyond Your Door’ campaign was a fresh way to convey the RV lifestyle and the invaluable connections awaiting travelers wherever they park,” says Kevin Kriehn, Chief Creative Officer at BVK. “We are honored to be working alongside the Go RVing team to showcase how RV travel offers the best of both worlds to all consumers.”

“Traditional live-action would have been costly and time-consuming due to extensive travel,” explains Rubinstein. “More importantly, virtual production enabled precise execution of BVK's concept, with the client’s vision being affirmed right there on set.”

Covert’s attention to detail extended to printing the final digital film onto actual film and then re-digitizing it, with the objective of bringing an analog feel back to the film. Injecting subtle imperfections through this technique gave the film a more organic aesthetic, visually reinforcing the central theme of nature within the ethos of the Go RVing brand.

“Go RVing and BVK offered Covert a unique opportunity to lead as a production company, helping shape their creative vision from the ground up with our VFX and technology expertise,” concludes Litwinko. “As the lines between VFX and production continue to blur in this new age of tech and creativity, the spirit of collaboration remains the same at Covert.”
