Biscuit Filmworks Signs Phoebe Arnstein for Commercial Representation

Biscuit Filmworks today announced that Phoebe Arnstein has joined their directing roster. Phoebe’s work is thought-provoking, sensorial, and grounded in a way that feels both universal and personal all at once.

Phoebe’s films span narrative, documentary, and commercials, with some projects featuring her unique mixed-media approach, using stills she captures and integrates into moving images for added impact. Her instinct for casting brings depth to every role and roots her films in reality, and her use of visual metaphors and sophisticated camera techniques always serve to further the story. This is evidenced in her EE campaign, “The Christmas Double,” which highlights the chaos of multiple family holiday visits in a single day and showcases how the network keeps families connected through it all.

Other brand collaborations include campaigns for British Airways, Huel, Burger King, and De Beers. Phoebe wrote and directed her narrative short, If You’re Happy, a visually arresting, meditative piece starring Erin Doherty (Adolescence, The Crown). The film is available to stream on Disney+.

Born and bred in London, Phoebe fell in love with photography, which ultimately led to filmmaking, and she began her career in the camera department, working on features and television dramas. This experience deepened her desire to have greater influence over character and story, and has informed how she approaches her cast and characters as a director.

“Phoebe is such an exciting addition to our roster - we are thrilled to be part of her future,” said Shawn Lacy, founding partner of Biscuit Filmworks.

Rupert Reynolds-MacLean, managing director of Biscuit Filmworks UK, added, "Phoebe is obviously an incredibly talented visual filmmaker, but what really drew me to her work was her narrative storytelling prowess. We focus on working with talent that can move people in a short space of time. The overriding connective tissue between all of Phoebe's work is that the audience is left feeling an emotional connection to the story she is telling. Right now, brands need directors with that special ability more than ever, and I am excited about what we will be able to achieve together."

“Joining Biscuit feels like I’ve landed somewhere very special,” said Phoebe. “Their exceptional instinct for craft and storytelling resonated with me immediately as a director, and I’m very excited to be here.”

Phoebe’s work has won awards at Ciclope, the British Arrows, Creative Circle, Kinsale Sharks, and the Young Directors Awards, and has played in competition at multiple BAFTA- and Academy Award-qualifying festivals worldwide.

Biscuit is representing Phoebe globally, with the exception of Germany, where she is repped by Zauberberg.
